Terms of Service
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of GoethéB1 (the "Service"), operated by Elif Yılmaz (operating as “GoethéB1”), Abide Bayram Sk 19, Gazimağusa 99450, North Cyprus (TRNC) ("we", "us"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. The Service
GoethéB1 is an independent online tool offering practice materials, mock tests, AI feedback on writing and speaking, and progress tracking to help you prepare for the Goethe-Zertifikat B1 German exam and the Einbürgerungstest ("Leben in Deutschland"). New accounts receive a 3-day free trial; after that, continued use requires a one-time purchase (Section 11). We are not affiliated with the Goethe-Institut, see our Disclaimer.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 16 years old to create an account and use the Service. By using it, you confirm that you meet this requirement.
3. Your account — personal use only
- You must provide accurate information and keep your login credentials secure and confidential.
- You are responsible for all activity under your account.
- Access is personal and non-transferable, and is intended solely for private use by the registered account holder.
- You must not share your login credentials with anyone, use the account jointly with others, or sell, rent, lend, or otherwise make your access available to third parties.
- You must notify us promptly if you suspect unauthorised use of your account.
- We may apply technical measures to protect against multi-person use, in particular limiting the number of concurrent sessions and devices per account. This is not intended to stop you using your own phone and laptop.
Consequences of breach are set out in Section 15.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- copy, scrape, redistribute, or resell our content or practice questions;
- reverse-engineer, disrupt, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service;
- use the Service unlawfully or to infringe others' rights;
- upload malicious code or overload our systems.
5. Intellectual property & content
All content in the Service, including our original practice questions, texts, design, and software, is owned by us or our licensors and protected by law. We grant you a limited, personal, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service for your own exam preparation. Our practice questions are original materials we created to resemble the format of the exam; they are not real or past official exam questions and are not reproduced from Goethe-Institut materials.
6. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE", without warranties of any kind, to the maximum extent permitted by law. In particular:
- We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the Goethe-Institut. "Goethe-Institut" and "Goethe-Zertifikat" are trademarks of their respective owner, used only to identify the exam this Service helps you prepare for.
- We do not guarantee that you will pass any exam or achieve any particular result.
- Content is general study material for educational purposes, not professional, certification, or immigration advice.

7. Free trial
New accounts receive full access to the Service free of charge for 3 days, starting when the account is created. No payment details are required for the trial and it does not convert into a subscription — nothing is ever charged automatically. When the trial ends, the Service is locked until you make the one-time purchase described in Section 11. Your progress is retained and becomes available again on purchase.
8. Limitation of liability
- We are liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence, and for injury to life, body or health.
- In cases of simple negligence, we are liable only for breach of a material contractual obligation (an obligation whose fulfilment makes proper performance of the contract possible in the first place and on which you may regularly rely). In that case liability is limited to the foreseeable damage typical for this type of contract, and in any event to no more than the amount you paid us.
- Any further liability is excluded.
- We do not owe any particular exam result. GoethéB1 is practice material, not a guarantee of passing.
- We do not warrant uninterrupted availability; maintenance windows and temporary faults may occur.
Your mandatory statutory consumer rights are not affected.
9. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify us against claims arising from your misuse of the Service or breach of these Terms, to the extent permitted by law.
10. Changes to the Service and Terms
We may modify the Service or these Terms. For material changes we will provide reasonable notice (e.g., by email or in-app), and continued use after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms. If you do not agree, you may stop using the Service and delete your account. Changes never apply retroactively to a purchase you have already made.
11. Purchase, price and payment
- After the free trial, permanent access is unlocked by a single one-time payment. The total price payable is the price displayed at checkout.
- This is not a subscription: there is no billing cycle, no automatic renewal, and no card stored for future charges.
- Payment is processed by Stripe. We never receive or store your full card details. See our Privacy Policy.
- Access is unlocked immediately after successful payment, on every device where you sign in to your account.
- The purchase covers the Service as a whole, including modules we have already released and future updates within its core purpose.
12. What "permanent access" means
Your one-time payment grants personal access for as long as we operate the Service. It is expressly not a guarantee that the Service will be operated indefinitely, nor a claim to any particular feature set in the future. We may continue to develop the Service and change individual features, provided the core contractual benefit — preparation for the Goethe-Zertifikat B1 exam — is preserved. Where we describe access as "permanent" or "lifetime" in marketing, it has the meaning defined in this Section.
13. Right of withdrawal (consumers in the EU/EEA)
As a consumer you have the right to withdraw from this contract within 14 days without giving any reason. The withdrawal period is 14 days from the day on which the contract was concluded (the day of your purchase).
To exercise this right, you must inform us by means of a clear statement — for example an email to hello [at] b1goethe.com — of your decision to withdraw from this contract. It is sufficient that you send your notice before the withdrawal period expires.
Effects of withdrawal: if you withdraw from this contract, we will reimburse all payments received from you without undue delay and no later than 14 days from the day on which we receive notice of your withdrawal. We will use the same means of payment that you used for the original transaction, and you will not be charged any fees for the reimbursement.
The free 3-day trial additionally lets you evaluate the Service in full before you pay anything.
Your other statutory rights, in particular rights in respect of defects, are unaffected.
14. Discontinuation of the Service
- We may discontinue operating the Service. We will announce this at least three (3) months in advance by email to the address held on your account.
- If the Service is discontinued within twelve (12) months of your purchase, we will refund the amount you paid pro rata, in the proportion that the remaining full months bear to twelve months.
- After twelve (12) months from your purchase, discontinuation does not give rise to a refund claim.
- Your further statutory rights remain unaffected.
15. Suspension & termination
You may delete your account at any time in settings.
If you breach Section 3 — in particular by sharing your login credentials or allowing several people to use one account — we may temporarily suspend your access and ask you to stop. In the event of a serious or repeated breach we may terminate the contract for cause and permanently block access; in that case there is no claim to a refund of the purchase price. Before permanently blocking an account we will give you an opportunity to respond, unless this is unreasonable in the circumstances.
We may also suspend or terminate access where you use the Service unlawfully or in a way that harms others or us.
16. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of North Cyprus (TRNC), without prejudice to the mandatory consumer-protection rights of your country of residence. If you are a consumer in the EU/EEA, you keep the protection of the mandatory laws of your home country.
